Frequently asked questions

Where does ACL Fest take place – and will it stay in Zilker Park?

The festival is held in Zilker Metropolitan Park (2100 Barton Springs Road), Austin’s oldest metropolitan park: more than 350 acres of publicly owned land where Barton Creek meets Lady Bird Lake. The City of Austin’s Parks and Recreation Department has a contract with producer C3 Presents that allows the festival to use Zilker Park through 2040.

Why does ACL Fest run over two weekends?

The festival started as a one-weekend event. In 2012 the City of Austin and C3 Presents agreed to extend it, and since 2013 ACL Fest has taken place on two consecutive three-day weekends in October in Zilker Park, with a similar line-up on both weekends.

Is the festival connected to the TV show “Austin City Limits”?

Yes – the festival takes its name from and is inspired by the PBS music series Austin City Limits, produced by Austin PBS station KLRU since its pilot in 1974 and the longest-running music programme in television history. The festival itself is produced by the Austin-based promoter C3 Presents.
