Slipknot 45%Album eight is in production with Matt Wallace and Jim Root says the band has roughly fifty arrangements ready. Knotfest Australia skipped 2026 and returns in 2027, which the organisers promise will be 'truly unmissable' - a campaign year. Slipknot headlined Aftershock in 2024, a three-year gap that matches the rotation Danny Wimmer uses for its biggest names. Sleep Token 30%The Even In Arcadia tour ended in Los Angeles in October 2025 and the band has booked no live activity at all since - no 2026 dates were ever announced. A band between cycles with an empty calendar is exactly the profile Aftershock books, and Sleep Token have never played Discovery Park. Against it: nothing about a new cycle has been confirmed either. Source: https://www.kerrang.com/until-our-paths-cross-again-sleep-token-wrap-up-even-in-arcadia-u-s-tour Correction of 25 August 2026, after the Louder Than Life archive was repaired: they played the sister festival not once but twice, in 2023 and again in 2025. That is an alternating pattern inside the Danny Wimmer family, which arguably points at Louder Than Life 2027 rather than Sacramento; the figure has been reduced accordingly.
Metallica 30%The Life Burns Faster residency at the Las Vegas Sphere runs from October 2026 to March 2027 and the band has stated it will not add further Sphere dates - which leaves the whole second half of 2027 open. Metallica have never played Aftershock, so there is no rotation to respect, but a Sacramento festival slot is also a step down in scale from a Sphere run. Five Finger Death Punch 30%The twentieth-anniversary world tour is confirmed for 2027 with a European arena leg from 16 January in Manchester to 22 February in Helsinki, alongside Lamb of God and Bleed From Within, plus a Wacken slot in July. An anniversary campaign of that size normally carries a North American autumn leg, and the band last played Aftershock in 2024. Spiritbox 28%The Tsunami Sea cycle is still expanding rather than winding down: the band play their biggest headline shows ever in 2026, including the OVO Arena Wembley on 19 September. That run is British, so the North American market stays untouched, and Spiritbox appear on none of the Aftershock bills from 2023 to 2026 despite fitting the programming precisely. Source: https://www.kerrang.com/spiritbox-biggest-ever-uk-headline-tour-arenas-courtney-laplante-metalcore-tsunami-sea-jinjer-dying-wish Correction of 25 August 2026, after the Louder Than Life archive was repaired: they played the sister festival in back-to-back years, 2024 and 2025. Two consecutive Danny Wimmer bookings is the heaviest recent usage of any name on this list, and the figure has been reduced accordingly.
Shinedown 28%The eighth album EI8HT arrived in May 2026 with a world tour attached, but the North American leg ran from May to mid-September 2026 - so the domestic market is freshly served and the next natural window is the following autumn rather than a repeat run. Shinedown are absent from every Aftershock bill from 2023 to 2026 even though they are a Danny Wimmer regular elsewhere. Motionless In White 27%Their 2027 touring year is already documented on two continents: officially confirmed for Nova Rock 2027 in Austria and part of the Bloodstock 2027 first wave in England. A band that locks European festival slots that early is planning a full year, and Motionless In White appear on none of the Aftershock bills from 2023 to 2026. Source: https://www.kerrang.com/mercyful-fate-electric-callboy-and-motionless-in-white-lead-bloodstock-2027s-first-line-up-announcement Disclosed for completeness: they played sister festival Louder Than Life in 2025, so they are not untouched within the Danny Wimmer family - two years and a different coast make that a weak counter-argument, not a disqualifier.
Avenged Sevenfold 24%Deliberately kept low, and the argument has been corrected: the earlier version leaned on the alternating-year pattern of sister festival Louder Than Life, which says nothing about Sacramento. The Aftershock-specific fact is that they headlined here in 2023, and this festival rotates its headliners on a two-to-three-year cycle (Tool in 2023 and 2026, Korn in 2023 and 2025), which would make a fourth year plausible rather than due. Against it: M. Shadows says he has not even thought about album nine and wants to 'live a little bit of life' first, and the sixteen-city North American run with Good Charlotte in July and August 2026 has just served the domestic market. • By carBy car via Interstate 5

Discovery Park lies beside I-5: the Richards Blvd. exit leads west to the park's south entrance, the Garden Highway exit east to the north entrance. Apart from accessible parking there is no parking on the festival site itself; paid lots in the surrounding area are run by third parties, not by the festival, and overnight parking is prohibited.
